RARE Circa 1790 Antique Creamware Plate by Joshua Heath; Hanley in Staffordshire. Heath was one of the very first potters to perfect blue transfer ware and copy the Chinese export pieces. That is SUCH an amazing feat when you consider the harsh conditions that the people in the factory would have worked under. To make something this exquisite............... The scene is Chinoisierie and features two men in conversation, another crossing a bridge and another fishing in a boat. All of this is "over the top" with intricate detail, especially the border. It is marked with the Georgian I (for J) H; impressed and is in great condition. Crazing with age, a few minor rough spots on the rim and two tiny fleabites on the front, one at 11o'clock and one at 1 o'clock that are so small I can't see them in the photos.
