Founded in 1635, De Porceleyne Fles is the Netherlands most famous Delft factory. Most visits include a factory tour (I have been twice). Of the dozens of original 17th century makers, only De Porceleyne Fles, also known as ROYAL DELFT, remains in operation. It is recognized as the standard against which all Delftware is judged.

This piece is coded with. The artist's signature - CK. The year code of AD for 1908.

Of this series, this is ITEM NUMBER 204. One of the most collectible periods in De Porceleyne Fles history began in 1876. He added his initials and "Delft" to the back. Abel Labouchere joined the company in 1881 and became an associate in 1884. He took over the company after Thooft died in 1890.

The Joost Thoft & Labouchere impression (see photographs 5 and 6), continued for a limited period of time, commemorating one of THE MOST COLLECTIBLE PERIODS in that factory's history. The scenes depicted on many of the plates are from original oil paintings by Dutch artists. At the bottom of the plate is NAAR (or taken from), and then the name of the original artist (see photograph 4), Louis Opol. No chips, cracks, scratches or repairs are found.

There is no crazing on the back, and VERY light on the front (you have to look close), a condition that is extremely rare for a piece of this time period. Please consider that this 131 year-old treasure is an antique... By its very nature of being old is not "dead mint" or perfect. Please consider any manufacturing imperfections indicative of the period in which it was made, and wear consistent with usage. CAREFULLY PACKAGED IN A SMOKE-FREE HOME.
