Rare Blue & White Band 9 Inch Signed Bowl Yellow Ware

  

Here we have an attractive blue and white band yellow ware bowl. This pattern is rarely found and is highly collectable.

The decoration is in both the elaborately molded design and applied blue and white bands. This bowl and matching pitcher all have a 6-sided foot. The bowl was made by the Watt Pottery Company and is one of several matching blue and white band pieces being listed. Watt Pottery was located in Crooksville, Ohio and produced these pieces for a short period of time from the late 1920's to the early 1930's. This period was during the end of yellow ware production by potters in America. The bowl measures 9 ½" in width by 5 ¼" in height. The underside of the bowl is impressed with the size "9" and OVENWARE / MADE IN U.

This mark helps date the bowl since the Tariff Act of 1930 required the country of origin be marked on all goods for trade. The bowl is in near mint condition with only a small chip on the underside of the foot no damage or repairs. There is also an air bubble on the underside of the shoulder and foot that is original to the molding of the bowl.
