Made between 1847 and 1858 by The Bennington Pottery, this bust of a young girl is # 270 and stands 7 1/2. You may reference the item in Bennington Pottery, written by Barret in 1969, on page 259. The picture in the book shows a smaller size than this one, but otherwise identical. The condition is perfect, there are no cracks or chips.
Someone filled the opening (where the statue was mounted in the kiln) with putty (See photo). I don't know their reasoning for this but that area is out of sight when displaying. The condition is unbelievable for the age. The bottom is incised with, "DLYD7" It is signed under her shoulder. Antique Parian items are not easy to find.
