Rare antique Chinese hand carved white nephrite jade belt buckle. This is beautiful piece of old white jade carved with a pierced flower basket with two bats carved on the top.

The jade is carved on the front and on the back. This showed the jade was originally a piece of carving and converted into a buckle. It is mounted on sterling silver.

The mount has a spring. It might have been used to clip on a base. The mount has a maker's mark Jiu Hua.

Which can be traced back to the later part of 1800s. Because the jade is carved with pierced design, there is a split in the middle of the jade. This was the result of using the spring mechanism against the jade. Please refer to photographs for condition. Otherwise, the jade is in excellent condition.

Once in a long while a piece of jade like this appeared. It is a rare find. Measurement: 7.5 cm (L) x 5.5 cm (W). As in all antiques it is inevitably that some imperfections are hard to detect.
