Just in time for Christmas here is a precious little donkey! My adorable little antique Steiff donkey dates to the very early 1920s when Steiff first started to use their wooden'eccentric' wheels. I have included a picture from the early Steiff Sortiment which shows this donkey model, but the one shown in the book has metal wheels.

My old girl is not 100% perfect, after all she's been working hard now for many years, but you will see that her general condition is pretty impressive for a toy about 100 years old. The Steiff donkey on wheels was a very popular addition to their range and examples in this petite size are quite rare. The donkey is not jointed and she stands about 7" or 17cm, not including her ears, and is approx 7" long.

She still has the all important FF button in her ear and has also kept quite a lot of her original leather accessories.
