For sale is A genuine 18th century Dutch Delft plate/shallow bowl with blue and white Asian style motif. Tiny rim chip reveal a reddish brown foundation clay which is then painted in blue and white glaze, a method used in early delft plate to reflect people's taste in Asian blue and white dinnerware back in 1700s. The free hand style painted bird and flora design is highly decorative and a good mimic of oriental theme. The plate has been carefully restored at one area.
See the last photo for detail. Overall, a rare antique delft plate with beautiful design and patina under well restored condition.
The item is acquired directly from a antique dealer located in Netherlands. It measures 8.5" in diameter and about 1.5" tall at the rim. Other than the repaired area, the plate is in good condition. The decorative glaze is free from damages, but age appropriate wear and minor chipping to the rim is to be expected.
