Rare 1940-50's Vintage Porcelain Water Drinking Fountain, 32, Standard Sanitary. This sweet, free standing water fountain was manufactured in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the 1940-50's by Standard Sanitary. It features an octoganol base and 14 diameter bowl.
Spout is included but no internal parts. The bowl is 30" tall and the base has a 13" x 13 footprint. The "Standard" company logo is found on the back side of the base. Before American Standard, there was the Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company, founded in 1875. Standard Sanitary pioneered many of the plumbing product improvements introduced in the early part of this century including the one-piece toilet, built-in tubs, combination faucets and tarnish-proof, corrosion-proof chrome finishes for brass fittings. By 1929, Standard had become the world's largest producer of bathroom fixtures. The corporation adopted the name "American Standard" in 1967. Glossy porcelain finish shows very minor surface scuffs.
