Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis started making and supplying watches in 1905 as W&D In London. In 1915 they re-named it the ROLEX Watch Co. This extremely early 1910 hallmarked gents silver half hunter example trench style watch is ROLEX through and through and is fully stamped with the W&D stamp on the case and movement and uses the Aegler Rebberg movement mostly found in early ROLEX watches of this period. This is an absolutely lovely 4 piece genuine and original FULLY SIGNED with the rarer W&D (Wilsdorf & Davis founders of ROLEX) double hinged back and bezel solid English sterling silver watch case.

The case is in good condition for its 110 years of age various nibbles and pin head dings to the case and a few larger shallow dents to the case back. This is only to be expected with every day normal use. This watch may have been used in WW1! The inside of the case is beautifully engraved with the wording. And it is also numbered. The hall mark is for London and the date mark is for 1910. The case measures 3.2cms (32mm) across EXCLUDING the lugs and crown. This is a nice condition white unsigned enamel dial with a red 12. (This is period correct as ROLEX did not put the name on dials until around 1923) All of the black painted Arabic numerals are SHARP and crisp.

The dial has a black railway outer chapter ring which is excellent. The dial has 2 original golden stee Spade hands which look to be in excellent condition. The hour hand is a double spade and is original for a half hunter wrist watch. The dial shows a hairline (see photos). The front small crystal is plastic and is in good condition.

This is a wonderful genuine W&D. FULLY SIGNED high grade quality 15 jeweled movement. This fantastic early W&D ROLEX Aegler Rebberg movement is in working order. The movement winds fine and stem sets as it should. Tis watch has now been fully serviced including replacement of the mainspring. The watch is working as it should keeps time to within a couple of mins per day as tested over a 24 hour period. All in all this is a beautiful W&D ROLEX original movement.
