Beautiful French 18k gold Vintage old mine cut Diamond Hat Tie Brooch Pin Rare

  

A stunningly beautiful antique piece of fine French jewellery, a truly rare opportunity! This pin is made with genuine diamonds in solid 18k yellow gold, which has its stamp of an eagle's head, as one can see in one of the photos, although it is a little hard to make out. Craftsmanship of 19th century at its finest, to the point that the leaf is not flat but actually curves and is three dimensional like a real leaf.

But the real star of this piece are its beautiful antique diamonds. These shiny diamonds are of white color and fine clarity.

They are of flat and rose cuts except three which are old mine cut. These three are among the largest, they have completely uneven facets, asymmetrical shapes, super high crowns, and culets in the back. Two of the flat and rose cut ones have facets which although glossy, have natural lines on them, the same texture I imagine as nature made them, like the surface of uncut diamonds. Such a variety, a fine collection of different stones in one piece are super rare, both in material and beauty. They sparkle incredible light, because when they were first cut and polished they were done by human hands instead of machines and were meant to be seen in dim light, mostly candle and natural light, rather than electric lights.

This give them an incredibly organic look and natural feeling. Most old mine cut diamonds were recut after the turn of the century. Modern cut diamonds may appear to reflect more light because they are shaped to reflect light directly up, rather than in all directions.

Perhaps some prefer it that way, it's all a matter of taste. Nevertheless these are really rare to find especially in a piece in fine condition such as this one. The pin is 4.9 cm long, the leaf measures 1.5 cm long from stem to tip. It can be worn as tie pin, a hat pin, or brooch, and comes with the antique box pictured.
