A beautiful and rare 1810 to 1820 Regency period dress that has been de-accessioned from a museum collection. The dress is made of white muslin and embroidered with raised French Knots. The dress has a high empire waist.
The long sleeves have a flared cape over sleeve that is edged with ruffle trim. The skirt hemline is decorated with rows of pin tucking and has a short back train.
The bodice is partly lined with cotton and has a tie back closure. The neck and armscyes are piped. The dress is in very good condition. There are two small holes near the back waist and a few tiny age spots. The sleeve cuffs have old period mends and one 1 inch mend. There is a small period mend on the back skirt.
None of the flaws are major and do not distract from the overall appearance. A wonderful garment to add to an early textile collection. Shoulders 15 Bust 32 Empire waist 28 Sleeve length 26 Front length 50 Back length 55.
