Antique Clichy Miniature (RARE) Green/White Swirl WithRoses Cane Glass Paperweight

  

Hard to find a Clichy Mini Swirl. This one is green and white. Swirls run spiral-shaped from the center cane on the dome of the weight towards the base. This one rotates counter-clockwise with the green and white swirls being about same width.

The red center cane is comprised of pink roses alternating with white flowers and a central lighter pink rose. Clichy produced paperweights starting in the mid 1840's and made them through 1870. They became known, among other things, for the Clichy Rose and their unusual swirl paperweights. The swirl paperweights have intentional swirls to enhance the effect. This paperweight weighs 7.1 ounces and is approximately 2.1" W x 1.5" H.
