This is one of the most gorgeous dresses I have ever come across. It is so amazing I could not resist and paid a small fortune for it as I simply adore it.
It is hanging in my bedroom at moment as certainly won't fit me. Have to say that the pix don't begin to do this justice. Think it might have been couture at the time as just so unusual. Looks like something out of a movie. Check out those yellow cuffs on the sleeves and the finishing around the bottom.
Then there is that print! Embossed cotton with yellow and gray designs, black piping and large black buttons down the front and around the triangled bottom. The collar which is a very pale gray appears to be silk or some kind of netting. I just could look at this all day. Has belt loops but no belt; probably a plain black one and I have some so if you need a belt let me know and can include.
It is in good vintage condition. There is a repair at the bottom back hem right above the black piping that is so well done that I didn't even notice until scrutinizing for listing. Due to the embossing of the cotton it just fades into it. However, it is not seen as on the underneath.
Unfortunately it is also on the small side. If you are a seamstress you could use as a pattern. However, I really no longer have the body for this style so listing at a price that will force me to give up.
Truly a rare piece fashion history. Does remind me of deco styling;you would be a stand out in this piece. Underarm to underarm across the back 15.25. Sleeves 17 at tip of those cuffs.
Across the waist 10.4. The item "Rare 1930s Art Deco Cotton Print Dress with Outrageous Collar, Cuffs and Hem" is in sale since Thursday, January 7, 2021. This item is in the category "Clothing, Shoes & Accessories\Specialty\Vintage\Women's Vintage Clothing\Dresses".
